Migrant and Refugee Sewing School
We run two sewing course in Roskill Village and the Wesley Intermediate School in Sandringham. Our sewing courses provide a way for women to fill their free time doing useful things and growing their creativity, energy and sense of implementation in the life.
The first of our sewing course is the Sewing Circle. This course is for those with no experience who want to learn to sew on a domestic sewing machine and make connections with other ethnic women from similar backgrounds. The sewing circle is a learn at your own pace course which is open to sewers of all different levels. The sewing school is free programme we run during the school terms. There are two courses women are able to enrol in. The beginners sewing course and the advanced sewing course. Each course is six months long. The Sewing School teaches women to sew on industrial machines so they are able to use course as a stepping stone to embark on other training and allows for opportunities to gain employment in clothing operations sector. Students attend five days a week during term time, 9:30am - 3:00 pm. for enquiries or enrolment please email admin@nzethnicwomen.org. Enrolments for the semester too close on the 20th of June 2020. |
